Obituary

Hearing the distant sound of angelic music, Dorothy quietly made her exit from earth for her grand debut in heaven.
Dorothy Elaine Freethy was a rare combination of social butterfly and devout Catholic. Her joie de vivre and zest for life were huge; her love of family and friends held no bounds.
Fashionista, avid line dancer, gracious hostess, voracious reader, Betty White lookalike, world traveler, adoring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, devoted wife, loyal friend, and successful business owner - there was never a dull moment in Dorothy's extraordinary life.
She took pleasure in complex crossword puzzles, competitive card games with friends, dancing (especially line dancing) and discussing current events and politics.

Dorothy's childhood was challenging to say the least. She was raised in Mineral Wells, Texas, with her beloved brother, Dewey, by a single working mother. Though times were tough, Dorothy's exuberant spirit was never defeated. She made many life-long childhood friends and was very proud of her teen years as a majorette. Her love of dance also began as a teen and lasted her entire life.
At age 20, Dorothy left Texas to move to California with her dear cousin, Irene. Things were looking up! Dorothy married Vernon Freethy in 1950, and the couple produced eight boisterous and loving children. The family was raised in Burlingame in a bustling household, with Dorothy often cooking a delicious meal, reupholstering furniture, growing her medical transcriptionist business or gardening. Even with her hectic life, Dorothy always found time to babysit her grandchildren. She was the grandmother everyone wanted.
Loved ones who awaited her arrival in heaven were; Vernon Freethy, George Golding, two of her children, Michele and Kevin, granddaughter Sage and so many precious relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.
Left behind on earth to carry on her joyful legacy are her children: Anne O'Brien (Don), Terry Freethy (Barbara), Melissa Freethy, Joan Freethy (Kendrick), Paul Freethy (Michelle) and Francie Perkins (Sean). Her treasured grandchildren; Tyler, Kylie, Colby, Kristen, Logan, Gabriel, Aleah, Blain, Brianna, Mariah and great grandchildren, Knox, Jagger, Ryland and Cheyanne.
Also left behind is her beloved companion, Cy Tukeman. We are so grateful for the joy she shared with Cy. In addition, her caregiver, Edgardo Lacay Sichico, who was a great comfort in her final days.

Memorial services will start with a Rosary Service to be held on Sunday, November 25, 7:30 pm at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1721 Hillside Drive in Burlingame. Memorial mass to be held on Monday, November 26 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Angels Church, with the Celebration of Life in the Community Hall immediately following memorial mass.
In lieu of flowers: honor, respect and love each, laugh aloud, be grateful and wear a snazzy outfit in honor of our gal, Dorothy!
