Tribute & Message From The Family

Marsha passed away suddenly February 25, 2021 in San Francisco. She was born April 2, 1945 to Lydia and Fred Chapin and grew up in San Francisco. Marsha attended George Washington High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Dave Lyon. They have been married 36 years, residing in San Mateo.
Marsha had a special way of always making family and friends feel special with her selfless generosity and never ending love and support. She was the glue that brought her family together for decades. Marsha loved sewing, being a grandmother, group exercising, shopping, skiing at Tahoe, talking to strangers and long walks with her dog. She was known for her exaggerated story telling abilities, sense of humor, propensity to sit on bee's nests and elite bumper car skills. As we say goodbye we feel blessed to carry on her legacy of light hearted joy and unconditional love.

Marsha is survived by her spouse Dave, mother Lydia, sister Claudia, daughter Kelly (Dan), granddaughters Logan (Tomo) and Cassidy (David), niece Amy (Chris), great nieces Gracie and Kendyl and her beloved husky Edgar.

A private memorial will be held for close family members with a bigger celebration of her life planned for post pandemic times.
Donations can be made to the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in memory of Marsha Lyon.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I'm so sad to hear about Marsha's sudden passing. I feel blessed that a few months ago I was standing in line a Pape's Meat and there was my cousin Marsha standing right behind me! As to expected we laughed and shared memories of our Chapin family. Embellished story telling runs through our Chapin genes making for a lively conversation as we stood in line!
My twin brother. Fred (named after her Dad, Uncle Fred) and I have many fond memories of visiting Marsha and Claudia, Aunt Lydia and Uncle Fred at their home in San Francisco. Marsha took a selfie of us standing
In line, I will always remember the colorful knit ( knitted by her) hat that she wore making my last time with Marsha memorable. Rest In Peace my dear cousin. Love , Frankie xo

We loved Marsha and will miss her very much and very often. Marsha always had a kind, thoughtful and caring manner, and offered unending generosity to all. She had an engaging perspective on life and unique sense of humor. Her off-handed comments always made us chuckle. She welcomed us, our kids, grandkids, family, and most importantly our dogs, to her Tahoe-Donner home like we were her own family. I've known Marsha since high school and consider her a dear and loving friend. We offer our condolences, love and caring thoughts to Dave, Kelly, Claudia, Lydia, the granddaughters, and all family members. To Dave and Claudia, we offer our continued love and friendship, now as always.

When one of us pass from this life, we all die a little too. Marsha and Dave will always be a part of our Washington High class, a name that will never change because scarlet and gray never fade, never wash out, but symbolize the anxiety of our youth and the grayness we have become. We lived to love you as a couple. Role models of what could be And what gave us hope, our best friend and ally. Dear Dave, my heart aches for you, the loss of a lifetime, will not be easy to adsorb but know please that I and our fellow classmates will always be there for you. Be strong my friend, one deep breathe at a time. You are loved.

Marsha was an awesome woman who was full of everything good! She made me laugh & was one of my favorite customers, she surprised me w/a bridal shower last year. In this pic she asked me to show her how to take a “selfy “. See it’s so easy. I loved spending time w her & will miss her very much. Rest In Peace Marsha!

My heart goes out to the Family!! Marsha was my friend for many years!! Her & Dave went with Carl & I to 3 concerts, The Eagles, Santana & Fleetwood Mac Great times!! Also, many parties...including coming to our house every Jan.1st for Carl's Birthdays. Sometimes on her way to or coming home from Tahoe she would stop by to visit with her Edgar!!! I will miss her so much!!! We had many laughs together. She was a sweet, compassionate, loving, funny & eccentric lady!! She won't be resting in Heaven...she has too much energy & people to talk to. See you in Heaven my friend I Love You! ♥

I was so privileged to know Marsha and to spend a great deal of time with her during my high school years. I always looked forward to the days I got to spend at her house after school before track practice. One of my fondest memories was putting together Christmas gift baskets for the family business and having Marsha just cracking jokes with Cassidy and me the whole time. Her energy was unparalleled and I was so blessed to know her. The love she had for those she cared about is something I hope to emulate in my own life.

I see the smile I remember from high school on the picture shown here. What a fun-loving and sweet person Marsha was. My sympathy to Marsha's family, and certainly to Claudia, Marsha's sister and forever sidekick.
