Tribute & Message From The Family

Mary Louise Brown was born on November 21, 1929 in Vidalia, Louisiana to Montgomery and Lenora Tibbs. She was 89 years old and received by our Lord with open arms on April 8, 2019. Mary is now at peace, after a relentless battle with chronic conditions, and long-term illnesses.
Mary was baptized on July 11, 1942 in the Mississippi River and was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church in Vidalia, LA.

She moved to California in 1957 with her family and husband, Eddie Brown who passed away June, 1986. Mary was blessed with a large and loving family. She leaves behind her sister Jennie Hagan (Vidalia, LA) and her children Carolyn Washington, Alfred Tibbs, and Joyce Mahaney (San Mateo, CA) along with her four children Dianne Martin, Sandra Burns, Beverly Lanzilla and Lenora Stroughter who preceded her in death. Mary also leaves behind her grandchildren André Washington, DeMaris Martin, Maurice Martin, Jr., Gary Werchick Jr., Kareem Washington, Laya Atchan, Laraea Tibbs, Glasker Washington Jr., Rick Mahaney Jr., Mary Mahaney, Eddie Mahaney, KaShan Stroughter, Jerod Martin, Joseph Tibbs, Marissa Tibbs; sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, in-laws and dear friends.

She was employed at Saint Matthews Catholic Church in San Mateo, CA as a Lead Cook for over 10 years and enjoyed every aspect of her career before retirement.

Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending quality time with her family. She was a collector of distinctive figurines, crystal vases and fine chinaware. She took immense pride in keeping her home tidy, well-kept and organized.

Mary was incredibly firm and out-spoken but also very loving, kind hearted and generous. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends but we take seek comfort in knowing that she is now resting in peace. Her final resting destination will be at the Natchez National Cemetery in Mississippi, Louisiana.
