Tribute & Message From The Family

Dr. Charles K. Guttas died peacefully at home on December 6th surrounded by family and friends after suffering a stroke six days earlier. He worked daily with his son, Dr. Jeff Guttas, until the day before his episode. He was fortunate to be a productive doctor until the age of 93 as an integral part of Mills Cardiovascular Lab. He was Chief of Cardiology for over 30 years, succeeded by his son, Dr. Jeff Guttas.

He loved his work, his patients, his staff, and his clan of 16 adoring children, grandchildren and wife.

Throughout his 60 years at Mills, he served his community, hospital and patients with dignity and devotion, and his many accomplishments were greatly acknowledged along the way. He loved teaching and lecturing about living a long and healthy life and seldom turned down an opportunity to share his views on the value of eating the rainbow and how "white ain't right" when it came to one's diet.

A small family gathering laid him to rest at St. John's Cemetery on December 15th and a celebration of his life will be held in the new year.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie, his four children and their spouses C.K. and Wanda Guttas, David and Debra Guttas, Dr. Michael Kelly and Nancy Guttas MacDonald, and Dr. Jeff and Marianne Guttas, plus seven grandchildren, Megan MacDonald, Sara Guttas, Andrew Guttas, Jordan MacDonald, Kristen Guttas, Greg Guttas and Alec Guttas, and his sister, Madlyn Guttas.
