I had the pleasure of working with Jeffrey on weekend days. 7 am to 7pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The weekends were long but especially on Sundays when Football season started up, but even longer when the Giants were in the playoffs!
One of my fondest memories was Jeff would come to the station and watch baseball and football on the flat screen t.v. in the lunch room on his breaks, but this day he couldn't seem to peel himself away from this game so while watching the game he was intently listening to our radio traffic too. While there was a lull in traffic, I left the break room and called for 2L3. Jeffrey jumped up with not one complaint, walked out the lunch room and began heading to his car. He told dispatch to go ahead and they promptly stated they never called him. I watched as Jeffrey looked up in the sky as if he was questioning himself. He then returned to the break room and finished the game.
As the swing shift logged on and his beat had cover I noticed Jeffrey standing in the lobby of the police department. Records kindly changed the station for him. I reached into my good ole bag of trick and called 2L3? As if it was an instant replay, Jeffrey walked out to his car and said, Go ahead. There was nothing. Dispatch then asked him to go to channel two They professionally but sternly informed him that they did not call him, but they could find some work for him to do if he wanted it.
When Jeffrey walked back into the station everyone was laughing hysterically. Jeffrey looked at them and then at me as I waved to him. We all had a great laugh and I will always remember that face he gave me. He knew I got him good.

My condolences to the Galaviz Family. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Jeff well. I had seen Jeff a few times in passing at work in Oakland but I wasn't formally introduced to him. I recently met Jeff a couple months ago while I was with a group of coworkers. Jeff introduced himself to me and as we shook hands and exchanged some dialog, I had this overwhelming feeling that he was a very genuine and nice person. I commented about his character to one of my friends as Jeff walked away. I then learned about what he was going through and my heart sank because I had met such a great person and couldn't believe what he was was dealing with. I could tell he had a heart that was true to himself, his family and to others. Being a cop, you can read people in an instant and I wish I had the pleasure of knowing him a lot better because I could tell he would have been one of those friends that I would consider very special to me. I was extremely sad to hear what happened and my prayers go out to his family. I will include Jeff and his family in my prayers I say every night. May God bless Jeff, and welcome him into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Dear Galaviz Family,

I had the honor to work with Jeff in the Marine Corps and I can not put into words how much of a caring, funny, hardworking, and overall awesome individual he was.

It was an extreme honor to be able to call him my friend and I hope all the best for his wife and children in the years to come and I will continue to send prayers their way in the following months.

Jeffrey was a shining light-- So full of love and life for everyone! As I could see from his family, he was a true-hearted person who loved life and had the love of his family through and through. There really is nothing that anyone can say in this time of deep sorrow that can adequately console someone who is grieving, but I have this quote that I am reminded of in times such as these:

"When you are born your cry and the world rejoices.
Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice."

Jeffrey will forever be loved and missed, but in our hearts and minds, his memory will give us strength.

Much love and Peace,

Suzanne Campanile

I was privileged enough to get to serve with Jeff in California. It is an honor to have known him. He had such a great outlook on life. Even when I messed up and he was having to get on me, you could tell he cared deeply. He was always smiling and laughing, no matter how crappy the day was.

My deepest sympathies to his family for the loss of such a great man.

Semper Fidelis brother. You will be missed.

I met Jeffrey during a boxing event in Redwood City in 2013. Jeffrey and my husband works out at the Undisputed Boxing Gym in San Bruno and was sadden to hear of his condition, but was devastated when I heard of his passing. I've heard many great things about Jeffrey and I believe everyone of them were true. I'd like to send my condolences to the Galaviz family and pray that they will find comfort and the strength to go forward. Also to let them know that I am very grateful for his services both as a marine and a police officer. He's done great to protect us all. We send our love from our family to yours!

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Galaviz Family and especially Jeff's wife and children. There are no words to express how we feel when a loved one passes but have comfort to know that the memories and love left behind help give much needed support during this difficult time.

At this time, I wish to express my profound gratitude for Jeff's service in protecting our country and his continued dedication to protecting and serving others. We have truly lost a beautiful person on this earth but Heaven has gained another TOP ANGEL.

Rest in peace, Jeffrey...you've earned your wings!

Dear Melinda and family,
Sending deepest condolences to you and your family. I have nothing but the fondest memories hanging with you and Jeff back in San Diego. I always admired your relationship, and I clearly remember wishing that one day I'd have a man who looked at me the way I saw Jeff look at you. Lots of love and hugs to you.

Hi Family...What I remember about Jeff is his beautiful smile. He was always happy and positive and had the type of smile that would light up the room when he walked in. People were happier when he was around. He really was a wonderful guy.

I remember when we were on our family vacation (2013) we rented a cabin in Arnold Ca. Right on the golf corse. Jeff came out to where the grass began, He looked out toward the golf course and said "aw man this is great!" He walked around looking at all the trees, the beautiful scene taking it all in. I felt his excitement rushing through his body. I believe Jeff was so very happy to be alive and greatful to be at such a beautiful place with his wife, children and the rest of his extended family. It was a bit of heaven for him. It was a wonderful feeling to see someone appreciate living so much.
We love you Jeff.
With love Aunt Teresa Steele and family.
